Samsung’ s Galaxy $26 series, expected to launch in February 2026,
could see a significant
upgrade with Micron’s LPDDRSX RAM. This
shift from Samsung’ s own DS Business Division to Micron may
boost performance and efficiency
For the Galaxy $26, Samsung is testing Micron’s LPDDR5X RAM
samples with a refined circuit linewidth. This tweak could
increase the number of dies per wafer by about 15%, improving
production efficiency and potentially lowering costs.
The report says Micron has just supplied LPDDR5X DRAM for the
Galaxy S26 series, which is technically the same as the S25 series.
The solution isn’t finalized yet, so the hardware spec might also
change around the production stage.
Samsung’ s bold move to Micron’s LPDDR5X could mean faster;
more efficient Galaxy $26 series. With improved RAM, the next
flagships may offer enhanced multitasking, gaming, and battery
life, giving users a better experience.

Micron’s LPDDRSX is already a
component in the Galaxy S25
series, taking a 60% supply ratio over Samsung’ s DS division, which
holds 40%. This split was unexpected, as industry insiders initially
predicted DS would dominate.
Samsung’ s MX division adjusts supplier ratios weekly, based on
forecasts. While the Galaxy S25’s 60:40 ratio favors Micron, the
Galaxy 26 could see further optimization; depending on ongoing
tests and performance evaluations.
Micron’ s LPDDR5X offers superior heat management and power
efficiency, critical for the Galaxy S25′ s required 9.6
data
processing speed. These advantages make it a better fit for
Samsung’ s Mobile eXperience (MX) division’s needs.
The preference for Micron stems from better yield and
performance. Samsung’ s DS division struggles with low yields,
falling below the 80% needed for efficient mass production. This
leads to higher costs for their LPDDRsX.
With Micron’ s refined LPDDRSX samples under testing the Galaxy
S26 could benefit from both cost savings and performance gains.
This small RAM change might deliver big wins for Samsung’s next-
generation flagships.
