트럼프 대통령은 5일(현지 시간) 트루스소셜을 통해 “”통화 중 시 주석이 영부인(멜라니아 여사)과 저를 중국으로 초청했고 나는 화답했다””고 적었다. 양국의 위대한 수장으로서 (방중은) 우리 모두 이 방문을 고대하고 있다””고 덧붙였다. 중국 신화통신도 이날 양 정상의 전화통화 사실을 확인했다. 양 정상의 통화는 공식적으로는 트럼프 대통령 취임 후 처음이다.
트럼프 대통령은 “”방금 시 주석과 매우 유익한 통화를 마쳤다””며 “”최근 체결되고 합의된 무역 협정의 세부 사항에 대해 논의했다””고 전했다. 트럼프 대통령은 “”통화는 대략 1시간 반 동안 계속됐다””며 “”양국 모두에 매우 긍정적인 결과를 가져왔다””고 평가했다.
