그럼 밀레이 퇴임 후에도 개혁조치들은 유지될까. 밀레이와 결이 다른 사람들도 지속가능성을 높게 본다. 페로니스트 정부에서 산업부 장관(2019~22)을 지냈던 마티아스 쿨파스는 “개혁의 일부는 지속가능하다. 특히 재정준칙과 원칙적인 통화관리는 앞으로도 오래 유지될 것”이라고 했다.
방향이 옳고, 성과가 확실한 데다, 많은 국민이 이에 적응했기에 개혁을 되돌릴 수 없다고 보는 시각이 우세하다. 아르헨티나 최대 회계법인 리식키리트빈의 세자르 리트빈 대표는 “밀레이가 워낙 많이 바꿔놨고, 이젠 사람들이 그에 익숙해져 예전으로 돌아가진 못할 것”이라고 말했다.
