Itis a Grcat Honor for me to scnd you this lctter in that it demonstrates the strength and
commitment of our Trading Rclationship. and the fact that (he United States of America
has
to continue working with Korea despite
significant Trade Deficit
with your great Country
Nevertheless
we
have decided to move forward with you. but
only with more balanced,
fair. TRADE. Therefore. we invite you tO participate in the
extraordinary Economy of the United States the Number One Market in the World by
far. We have had years to discuss our
Trading Rclationship with Korea and have
concludcd that we must move away from these
longterm_
and
persistent Trade
Deficits engendercd by Korea’ s Tariff; and Non Tariff Policies and Tradc Barricrs_
Our
relationship has been; unfortunately_
far from Reciprocal Starting on August
2025. we
will charge Korca a Tariff of only 259 On any and all Korcan products sent into the
United States. separate from all Sectoral Tariffs. Goods transshippcd to
higher
Tariff will be subjcct to that higher Tariff. Please understand that the 25% nurnber is far
less than what is needed to eliminate the Trade Deficit disparity we have with your
Country. As you are awarc, there will be no Tariffif Korea. Or companics within your
Country. decide to build or manufacture product within the United States and in fact
we
will do everything possible to get approvals quickly, professionally
and routincly
In
other words. in a matter of weeks
Iffor any rcason you decide to raisc your Tariffs. then
whatever the number you choosc
to raise them by. will bec added onto the 25% that WC charge Plcase understand that thesc
Tariffs are necessary t0 correct the many years of Korea’ s Tariff; and Non Tariff: Policies
and Trade Barriers causing these unsustainable Trade Deficits against thc United States.
This Deficit is a major thrcat to our Economy and indeed,
our National Sccurity!

이 서한을 보내는 것은 큰 영광이며, 이는 우리의 무역 관계의 강점과 헌신, 그리고 미국이 귀국과의 상당한 무역 적자에도 불구하고 한국과 계속 협력하기로 합의했다는 사실을 보여줍니다.
그럼에도 불구하고, 우리는 귀국과 함께 나아가기로 결정했지만, 이는 보다 균형 있고 공정한 무역에 한해서입니다.
따라서 우리는 귀하를 세계 최고의 시장인 미국의 특별한 경제에 참여하도록 초대합니다.
우리는 한국과의 무역 관계에 대해 수년간 논의해 왔으며, 한국의 관세 및 비관세 정책과 무역 장벽으로 인해 발생한 이러한 장기적이고 매우 지속적인 무역 적자에서 벗어나야 한다고 결론 내렸습니다.
불행하게도 우리의 관계는 상호적이지 못했습니다. 2025년 8월 1일부터 우리는 모든 부문별 관세와 별도로 미국으로 보내지는 모든 한국 제품에 대해 25%의 관세만을 부과할 것입니다.
더 높은 관세를 회피하기 위해 환적된 상품은 그 더 높은 관세의 적용을 받게 될 것입니다.
25%라는 수치는 우리가 귀국과 가지고 있는 무역 적자 불균형을 해소하는 데 필요한 것보다 훨씬 적다는 것을 이해해 주십시오.
아시다시피, 한국 또는 귀국 내 기업이 미국 내에서 제품을 건설하거나 제조하기로 결정하면 관세는 없을 것이며, 사실 우리는 승인을 신속하고 전문적으로, 그리고 일상적으로 즉, 몇 주 내에 처리하기 위해 가능한 모든 조치를 취할 것입니다.
만약 어떤 이유로든 귀하가 관세를 인상하기로 결정한다면, 귀하가 인상하기로 선택한 수치에 관계없이 우리가 부과하는 25%에 추가될 것입니다.
이러한 관세는 한국의 수년간의 관세 및 비관세 정책과 무역 장벽을 시정하여 미국에 대한 이러한 지속 불가능한 무역 적자를 야기하는 데 필요하다는 점을 이해해 주십시오.
이러한 적자는 우리 경제에 대한 주요 위협이며, 실제로 우리의 국가 안보에 대한 위협입니다!
